Wave Lagoon
Catch a wave at Darwin's coolest Waterfront attraction, the Wave Lagoon. A palm-fringed swimming pool turns into a tube-riding, bucket of fun when the siren signals the start of the swell.
Relax on banana lounges under enormous beach umbrellas or spread out on the lawn in the shade.
What to expect
This safe wave and swimming lagoon is stinger and crocodile free, covering an area of 4,000 square metres, including a shallow water play area for younger children.
The Wave Lagoon rolls out 10 different wave patterns, from gentle swells to waves up to 1.2 metres high, perfect for boogie boarders. There is a 20-minute break in-between each cycle.
The lagoon depth is 2 metres at its deepest point, sloping up to the wet edge. The water is chlorinated salt, and the lagoon has a concrete bottom.
There are sun loungers and shady areas, and you are welcome to bring your own temporary, light-weight shade tents, but nothing can be pegged into the ground.
Wave Lagoon Kiosk
NEW KIOSK LOCATION: Our Wave Lagoon kiosk is now located at the front of the Wave Lagoon, closer to the main lawns of the Waterfront. The kiosk is open daily from 10:00am - 6:00pm.
See the friendly staff to purchase; water, slushies, soft drinks and snack items as well as goggles, aqua plugs and tube rings.
